Gaza: The Flood Opened The Abyss

Protests erupted all over the world (especially in Africa and Asia) on the night of the Baptist hospital massacre in Gaza. People united under one demand: the liberation of Palestine. Many protests, especially in Lebanon and Jordan, surrounded the US embassy. In Iraq the resistance fired a drone at the Green Zone.

These popular developments demand attention. If we look carefully at the bigger picture, we’ll find a sight of optimism. The country that was founded by a myth and the colonialist army with a State is on a free fall. It’s the abyss that the resistance in Lebanon have told us about. Since the flood on October 7 Israel entered a phase of fast disintegration and decline. Their only move in the last 12 days is to massacre the civilians in Gaza by dropping tons of bombs from the sky; carpet bombing in a manner of extermination. This desperate move by the strongest army in the region  did not break the resolve of Palestinians in Gaza and the rest of historical Palestine. The Israeli army, who have resorted to bombing Gaza relentlessly, is aiming at either pushing people out of Gaza to Sinai or simply committing genocide.

The resistance in Gaza is still intact operating and maintaining attacks on many fronts. The resistance in Lebanon has lost more than eight martyrs so far but it has managed to inflict material and human loses in addition to keeping the northern front fully engaged, on high alert. This means that the Israeli army will not be able to manoeuvre their troops in support of a ground invasion in Gaza. All they can do now is massacre Gazan civilians. It’s the abyss because there is no coming back from what was set on October 7. The iteration tactic by the resistance in Gaza and Lebanon is bleeding the settler colonial entity dry and fast.

It was so telling the state of panic that captivated power centres in the West. Like a gangsters’ syndicate the West jumped in full force to the rescue of one of their bullies. However, the West is playing with fire it cannot juggle or contain. The west today is in a state of economic shambles, severe recession everywhere, high unemployment rates, collapse of the health sector, a huge immigration and refugee population and identity politics fragmentation and social disintegration. In the past the imperial West had a solid idea of who they were, today the plague of metal illnesses is driving societies in the capitalist center(s) towards individual and collective meltdown.

Hypothetically speaking if an oil and gas embargo was forced on the West as winter is approaching it will be very painful for millions in the West who are still paying debt on their energy bills from last winter. Food prices that are already steep will shoot to the ceiling, add to the above the formation of a multipolar world in the shape of BRICS plus. The dollar will take a hit when prices of staple commodities will be priced in different currencies. This is why Gaza could be viewed as the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back.

This is how Gaza’s breaking of the siege and the arrogant reaction by the West has ignited in the global South a spiritual excitement to call for an end to imperialist Western hegemony. Each day, under the dead lock Israel finds itself in, widens the cracks in the apartheid walls around the fortress. The coming days will show the fragility of a predator colonial entity living by brutal force to compensate for the lack of strategic depth.
